Cambridge, University of London Explore Hyderabad Partnerships After Revanth Meet

The University of Cambridge and the University of London have expressed interest in collaborating with the Telangana government on academic programmes, research initiatives, and entrepreneurship incubation in Hyderabad. The discussions took place during official meetings in London on Saturday.

A delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alongside Information Technology Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Chief Minister's adviser K. Ramakrishna Rao, and Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, presented the state's potential to global academic leaders as part of efforts to position Hyderabad as an international knowledge and innovation hub.

During a meeting with the University of Cambridge team, discussions with Prof. Jaideep Prabhu of the Cambridge Judge Business School and Prof. Venkata Serish Gandikota resulted in an agreement to work towards a framework for collaboration. This proposed framework will cover educational programmes, research activities, and startup incubation in Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister also attended a round-table meeting at Senate House with representatives from the University of London federation, which included officials from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). The team included Kavitha Reddi, Ruth Kattumuri of LSE, Paul Madden, Prof. Funmi Olonifakin, Dr Sky Zheng, and Keith Harrison.

University of London officials conveyed that the institution is developing plans to establish a campus in Hyderabad. The proposed campus would offer a wide range of educational courses and programmes across various departments within its academic federation.

The state government is pursuing these collaborations to attract globally reputed higher education and research institutions to Hyderabad to expand local opportunities in innovation and learning.
