MMC Reviews Ganesh Chaturthi Immersion Arrangements in Malkajgiri

Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations scheduled for September 14, the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation reviewed comprehensive civic and safety arrangements at a meeting held at its Tarnaka headquarters on Saturday.

MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy led the review with zonal commissioners and department heads to finalise plans for Ganesh immersion (Shobha Yatra) procession routes, water bodies, crane deployment, sanitation, road conditions, and electricity supply.

Officials were instructed to install static and mobile cranes at major tanks, lakes, and baby ponds, as well as set up temporary artificial immersion ponds where needed. Commissioner Reddy also directed teams to identify potholes and damaged stretches along procession routes and complete all road patchwork and repairs by September 13.

To ensure safety, dedicated control rooms will operate at major immersion locations, including Safilguda Lake, Kapra Lake, and Saroornagar Lake, to continuously monitor proceedings. The civic body will keep boats, expert swimmers, life-saving equipment, ambulances, and paramedical staff on standby at key immersion centres.

Sanitation measures will include deploying the Ganesh Action Team for every three to four kilometres along procession routes to remove garbage promptly. Commissioner Reddy urged all government departments to coordinate closely to ensure the festivities proceed peacefully, safely, and in a clean environment.
