Telugu-Only ASDD Voter List In Hyderabad Sparks Language Barrier Complaints

Residents and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of political parties in Hyderabad have criticised election authorities after the Absent / Shifted / Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) Electors list was published entirely in Telugu, creating language barriers across 15 Assembly constituencies in the district.
The issue arose shortly after the ASDD list was uploaded to the Chief Electoral Officer's official portal on Thursday. Political representatives and citizens noted that voter enumeration forms had previously been distributed in English throughout the district, making the sudden release of Telugu-only ASDD lists difficult to navigate.
A Booth Level Agent from the Old City highlighted the operational challenges, stating that even in slum areas, enumeration forms were issued in English. Teams had prepared to carry out the remaining stages of the SIR 2026 task based on that format, but the Telugu-only list has created complications for field workers.
Electors whose names appear on the ASDD list are required to submit a fresh application using Form 6, accompanied by a declaration form. The declaration requires personal details including name, address, and age, along with previous elector details or relative information from the SIR 2002 records where applicable.
