Ruturaj Gaikwad replaces injured Riyan Parag in India A squad for Sri Lanka tri-series

The BCCI Men’s Selection Committee in Hyderabad has added Ruturaj Gaikwad to the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka.
The announcement, made on 31 May 2026, confirms that Gaikwad will replace the team's vice-captain, Riyan Parag. Parag has been ruled out of the upcoming cricket tournament after sustaining a hamstring injury.
According to the BCCI, Parag will undergo his rehabilitation process at the Centre of Excellence (CoE), where his recovery will be monitored. The board did not specify the expected duration of his recovery period.
With Parag sidelined, Gaikwad has also stepped into the role of vice-captain for the India A squad. He will serve as the deputy to captain Tilak Varma, who is leading the touring side.
The BCCI has released the updated 15-member roster for the tri-series. The squad includes Tilak Varma as captain and Ruturaj Gaikwad as vice-captain.
The other batsmen and all-rounders named in the squad are Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, and Suryansh Shedge.
The team features two wicketkeepers, Prabhsimran Singh and Kumar Kushagra, who will handle duties behind the stumps during the series in Sri Lanka.
The bowling department and additional all-round options for the India A squad consist of Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan, and Anukul Roy.
No further changes have been made to the touring squad, which will travel to Sri Lanka for the tri-series.
