HYDRAA Demolishes Damaged Seven-Storey Building at Anjaiah Nagar in Gachibowli

The DRF teams of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) demolished an unauthorised seven-storeyed building at Anjaiah Nagar in Gachibowli late Sunday night. Officials carried out the operation after determining the structure was severely damaged and posed an imminent collapse risk.

The damaged building was compromised after another illegal seven-storey structure previously collapsed onto it. An inspection conducted by officials from the CMC and HYDRAA confirmed that the structure was built without any required approvals. With the building weakened and leaning precariously, authorities initiated an emergency joint operation to bring it down safely.

To carry out the demolition without causing damage to surrounding properties, HYDRAA deployed a specialized high-reach hydraulic machine, popularly known as the 'Bahubali machine'. Officials noted that the heavy-duty machinery has been utilized in several previous demolitions of high-rise structures across the city.

The operation required extreme precision due to the dense layout of the neighbourhood, where multiple unauthorised seven-storey structures stand on cramped 50-square-yard plots with almost no space between adjacent buildings. Police made comprehensive security arrangements in the area to keep the public at a safe distance from the demolition zone.

As a safety precaution during Sunday night's operation, residents living in the neighbouring Sterling White Field Apartment and Jayadarshini Residency were evacuated. The successful razing marks the second high-rise building demolished by HYDRAA in Anjaiah Nagar following structural safety hazards.
