BRS Leader Sohail Demands Police Investigation Into AIMIM MLC Rahmath Baig Case

BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail has demanded a police investigation into the suspension of AIMIM MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig, stating in Hyderabad that the issue should not be treated solely as an internal political party matter.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Sohail urged AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi to formally write to the Director General of Police and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to seek a thorough inquiry into the situation.
Sohail said that if the allegations against the legislator involve any serious offence, law enforcement authorities should carry out an investigation and register an FIR if warranted by the facts, ensuring the truth is brought before the public.
“The BRS stand has always been clear — what is wrong is wrong, irrespective of the party to which the person belongs,” Sohail said, noting that his party had taken a similar position in an earlier case involving the son of a BJP MP.
The demand follows the recent suspension of Rahmath Baig from the AIMIM, alongside requests for him to resign from his seat in the Telangana Legislative Council. Sohail emphasized that the controversy requires public transparency and a fair inquiry rather than remaining confined to party discussions.
