NTA to Reschedule CUET-UG 2026 for 3,765 Candidates After Technical Glitch

The National Testing Agency announced on Saturday, May 30, 2026, that it will reschedule the CUET-UG 2026 examination for 3,765 candidates who left their test centres following a technical glitch that delayed Shift 1. The agency apologized for the disruption and confirmed that a rescheduled exam will be held as a one-time measure.
The technical issue, which occurred at several examination centres, delayed the start of the morning shift by approximately two hours. K Krithivasan, CEO and Managing Director at TCS, confirmed that a brief technical issue at their end caused the delay.
According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), the technical service provider, TCS iON, has been directed to immediately conduct a root-cause analysis of the failure and submit a detailed report.
Despite the initial disruption, the NTA stated that the issue was resolved and the exam resumed with full compensatory time. Approximately 95 percent of the candidates stayed at the centres and were able to complete their exams. Morning session candidates who remained were given the full duration of the paper and were permitted to exit only after completing the test.
However, 3,765 candidates who had already completed their biometric registration chose to leave the premises before the exam could restart. The NTA confirmed that these specific candidates will be given another opportunity to take the entrance exam for undergraduate admissions.
Due to the morning delays, the NTA also adjusted the schedule for the afternoon session. The reporting and entry time was shifted to 2:30 p.m., and the examination start time was pushed to 4:00 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled 3:00 p.m.
The NTA expressed sincere regret for the inconvenience and anxiety caused to students and parents. The agency stated that the new date and additional details for the rescheduled exam will be announced separately.
