Allam Narayana Criticizes Installation of Andhra Leaders Statues at Gun Park Event

HYDERABAD — Leaders of the Telangana Journalists Forum (TJF) gathered at the Martyrs' Memorial in Gun Park, Hyderabad, on Saturday, June 1, 2026, to protest what they described as growing threats to the state's identity. Speaking at the forum's Formation Day event, TJF President Allam Narayana strongly criticized the installation of statues of Andhra leaders in Hyderabad, accusing the state government of compromising Telangana's interests 12 years after achieving statehood.

The gathering at Gun Park also served as the concluding ceremony for the TJF’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, marking 25 years since the journalism organization's inception. To mark the occasion, Telangana journalists working under the aegis of the TJF paid rich tributes at the memorial site before the speeches commenced.

Allam Narayana, who is the former Chairman of the Media Academy, expressed strong displeasure over the current state of affairs in Telangana. He alleged that conspiracies are once again being hatched within the state to undermine its very identity. Narayana specifically questioned the ulterior motives behind installing statues of Andhra leaders in Hyderabad, pointing out that this was being done 12 years after the state bifurcation.

Reflecting on the history of the statehood movement, Narayana asserted that it was the TJF that had originally mobilized the people of Telangana against those advocating for a united Andhra Pradesh. He stated that the time has now come for the organization to play that pivotal role once again to protect the state's interests.

Kranthi Kiran, the Founding General Secretary of the TJF and a former MLA, also spoke at the event and lashed out at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Kiran alleged that the Chief Minister is acting as a puppet under the control of Seemandhra leaders and is actively compromising the interests of Telangana. Kiran expressed deep anguish over the situation, warning that current circumstances are emerging to pose a direct threat to the very identity of Telangana.
