Nagababu-Starrer Rural Comedy Series Memu Copulam Premieres On ZEE5

The new Telugu rural crime-comedy web series "Memu Copulam," starring actor Nagababu in a prominent role, premiered on the digital streaming platform ZEE5 on May 22, 2026. Directed by Pradeep Maddali, the series is produced by BVS Ravi and Koumudi.

The plot of the series is set in the village of Mahadeva Pattanam and revolves around the village head, Gajapathi Raju, played by Nagababu. Raju is deeply attached to his prized fighting rooster, named Salaar Raju. Ahead of the annual Sankranti cockfights, Raju hosts a grand celebration for the villagers. However, following the party, the prized rooster mysteriously goes missing.

The responsibility of finding the stolen bird falls upon Sub-Inspector Ravi, played by Raviteja Nannimala, and Constable Mohan, played by Getup Srinu. As the investigation begins, a parallel crisis unfolds in Mahadeva Pattanam when several residents suddenly fall seriously ill and are hospitalized, vomiting blood. The narrative follows the police duo as they attempt to solve the mystery of the missing rooster, uncover the cause of the illness, and expose illegal activities in the village.

The series features performances by Getup Srinu and Raviteja Nannimala as the lead police officers, whose comic timing and rural dialogues drive the comedy. Siri Parvathi, Charan Lakkaraju, Rithu Chowdary, and Keeriti Damaraju perform in supporting roles. The show also incorporates elements of black magic drama and a mystery surrounding the villagers' sudden illness in its latter half.

On the technical front, the series features music composed by Saketh Komanduri, cinematography by Kishore Boyidapu, and editing by Michael D Silva. The screenplay stretches the central mystery across six episodes, balancing the comedy with a crime mystery, alongside a love story and reporter subplots.

While the show utilizes a rural backdrop and village politics, the narrative also explores the lack of a strong antagonist, leading to a flat unfolding of the final twists and suspense revelations in the climax.
