Former BRS MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy Revived After Cardiac Arrest in Hanumakonda

Former BRS MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy was successfully revived by medical personnel after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest at Rohini Superspeciality Hospital in Hanumakonda district. The medical emergency occurred moments after Reddy was brought to the emergency department while suffering from severe shortness of breath.

Speaking about the life-saving resuscitation effort, Dr. Mamatha Reddy, a cardiologist at Rohini Superspeciality Hospital who led the team, explained that the former legislator arrived at the casualty in an extremely critical state. She noted that Reddy was completely unable to speak because of the severity of his breathing difficulty.

Dr. Reddy was called to respond to the casualty for a cardiology emergency. By the time she arrived at the casualty, the hospital emergency team had already intubated Reddy and initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Upon initial assessment, his pulse and blood pressure were entirely unrecordable.

The medical team persevered with resuscitation efforts, administering nine to ten cycles of CPR over nearly 30 minutes before successfully restoring spontaneous circulation. Dr. Reddy recalled that the medical team did not want to give up on the patient because he had collapsed right in front of them moments after entering the casualty.

Once spontaneous circulation was restored, Reddy was shifted to the cardiac catheterisation laboratory so doctors could investigate the exact cause of the sudden collapse. A coronary angiography was performed on the former MLA, which showed that his coronary arteries were normal, officially ruling out a heart attack as the trigger for the cardiac arrest.

Following the angiography, medical specialists successfully diagnosed Reddy with acute pulmonary thromboembolism. The condition occurs when a blood clot blocks the main pulmonary artery responsible for transporting blood from the heart to the lungs.

Dr. Reddy emphasized that the medical event highlighted how crucial it is for individuals to seek immediate professional medical attention when encountering persistent or severe breathlessness.
