Accused Trainee IPS Officer Untraceable as High Court Denies Protection

Trainee IPS officer Mulagani Uday Krishna Reddy has gone untraceable after a fellow female IPS trainee lodged a sexual assault complaint against him with the Attapur police in Hyderabad on July 18.

Following the complainant's report, police registered a case under Sections 74, 75, 77, 78, 79, 127(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The accused officer was also booked under Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act.

Police sources stated that investigating officers visited two residences in Hyderabad where Reddy usually stays to seek his cooperation in the ongoing probe. However, Reddy was not found at either location, and his mobile phone was switched off.

According to sources, after the case was registered, Reddy consumed excessive liquor and lost consciousness. Suspecting a suicide attempt, his brother and friends shifted him to a nearby hospital, from where he was discharged two days later.

Subsequent to his discharge, Reddy approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR. The High Court declined to grant him interim protection from arrest and adjourned the matter for further hearing, while police actively continue their search for him.
