ECI Extends Telangana SIR Claims Deadline to November 26, Final Rolls on Nov 30

ECI Extends Telangana SIR Claims Deadline to November 26, Final Rolls on Nov 30

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana, extending the deadline for notices and the disposal of claims and objections to November 26. Following the revised timeline, the publication of the final electoral rolls across the state is now scheduled for November 30.

The ECI issued the revision following a formal request submitted by Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy. Under the previous schedule, the deadline for concluding the notice phase along with the disposal of claims and objections was set for November 5, with the final electoral rolls originally slated for publication on November 9.

Before the SIR exercise commenced, Telangana had an electorate of 3,38,26,448 voters. Of those registered, 2,64,87,213 voters submitted enumeration forms during the drive. The remaining 73,39,235 electors were categorised under Absent, Shifted, Death, and Duplicate (ASDD) entries and were removed from the draft electoral rolls.

Regarding the service of notices, official figures show that 92,81,189 out of the 92,88,188 SIR notices generated had been successfully delivered to voters as of Thursday. This left 6,999 notices pending delivery. Electoral officials had concluded hearings for 92,08,443 notices, while 78,108 first hearings and 1,636 rescheduled hearings had lapsed by Thursday.

As of Thursday, authorities cleared a total of 2,59,22,684 voter names for inclusion in the final voter list. Among those approved, 59,31,395 voters were cleared after resolving logical discrepancies, and 30,64,168 were electors unmapped from the SIR 2002 process. Additionally, 50,690 electors were found ineligible for inclusion in the final electoral rolls.
