DCA Raids Quack Clinic in Khammam, Seizes Rs 10,000 Worth of Illegal Medicines

The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has raided an illegal clinic operated by an unqualified practitioner in Burda Raghavapuram Village, Enkoor Mandal, located in Khammam district. The raid resulted in the seizure of multiple varieties of medicines that were being stocked illegally for sale to patients.

Acting on credible information received regarding unauthorized medical practices, DCA officials targeted the clinic run by Shaik Ameer. Upon entering the premises, officials found Ameer actively conducting clinical practice. The investigation revealed that Ameer was practicing medicine and administering treatments without holding any proper medical qualifications or licenses.

During the course of the raid, DCA officials searched the premises and detected 11 distinct varieties of medicines. These drugs were being stocked illegally at the clinic for sale and distribution. The total value of the seized pharmaceutical stock is estimated to be approximately Rs. 10,000.

A significant portion of the seized medicines included several types of antibiotics. The presence of these potent drugs at an unlicensed clinic run by an unqualified practitioner raised serious concerns among the visiting officials.

According to the Drugs Control Administration, the indiscriminate sale and administration of antibiotics by unqualified individuals can lead to disastrous consequences for public health. The officials warned that such unregulated practices contribute significantly to the emergence of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). AMR occurs when microorganisms develop the ability to defeat the drugs designed to kill them, rendering standard antibiotic treatments ineffective and complicating healthcare delivery.

The entire stock of 11 varieties of medicines found at the Burda Raghavapuram Village clinic was seized by the DCA. The authorities have emphasized their commitment to stopping illegal medical practices and the unauthorized sale of drugs to protect the health of the public.
