Telangana Skater Pranav Madav Meets SATG Officials, Eyes 2030 Winter Olympics

Telangana short-track speed skater and national gold medallist Pranav Madav Surapaneni met Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG) officials in Hyderabad on Monday following his medal-winning performance at the Asian Short Track Championship 2026. Pranav met SATG Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director Dr A Sonibala Devi, IFS, and Chairman K Shiv Sena Reddy to discuss his upcoming international competitions and training roadmap.

Pranav secured one silver and two bronze medals at the Asian Short Track Championship 2026. The skater has previously won gold medals across multiple categories at the National Championships and has now achieved the qualifying standard for the Senior World Tour, a key step in the pathway toward qualifying for the 2030 Winter Olympics.

During the meeting, Pranav outlined his training requirements, coaching programmes, and long-term sporting objectives. Dr Sonibala Devi enquired in detail about his practice facilities, coaching schedules, international exposure, and the overall support required to maintain his international career.

The SATG Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director assured Pranav and his family that his application for financial assistance would be considered under the provisions of the new Telangana Sports Policy. Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy also commended Pranav's achievements and confirmed that the authority would move forward with financial support to encourage athletes representing the state and nation at global events.

Pranav thanked the SATG leadership and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for supporting sports development and fostering an athlete-friendly environment in the state under the new policy as he works toward representing India at the 2030 Winter Olympics.
