Charminar Police Book Mirza Hashim Raza for Using Fake Number Plate on Scooter

The Charminar police booked a resident of Yakutpura on Saturday, May 30, 2026, for allegedly riding a scooter with a fake registration number plate. The accused reportedly used the bogus license plate to evade traffic penalties and mislead enforcement authorities in Hyderabad. This fraudulent action resulted in multiple traffic fines being wrongly imposed on an innocent vehicle owner.

The accused was identified by the police as Mirza Hashim Raza, a resident of the Yakutpura neighborhood in Hyderabad. According to the investigators, Raza was caught riding a Honda Activa scooter that displayed a registration number belonging to an entirely different vehicle.

The police revealed that the registration number used on Raza's Honda Activa scooter actually belonged to a Honda Shine motorcycle. The legitimate owner of that motorcycle was identified by the authorities as Pradeep Suresh Kulkarni, a resident of the Dilsukhnagar area.

During the police investigation, officers discovered that the Honda Activa ridden by Raza had never been registered with the Regional Transport Office. Instead of completing the official vehicle registration process, Raza allegedly attached the fake number plate to the scooter. This allowed him to ride the unregistered vehicle on public roads while escaping the traffic challans generated by enforcement authorities.

Because the fake plate was linked to Kulkarni's Honda Shine, the traffic violations committed by Raza on his Honda Activa were registered against Kulkarni's vehicle. As a result, multiple traffic fines were wrongly issued to Kulkarni, who had no involvement in the traffic violations.

The deception was uncovered during a probe conducted by the local police, during which officers successfully traced the scooter's actual registration status. Based on these findings, the Charminar police registered a formal case against the accused. The police department is currently continuing its investigation into the incident.
