Things to Do
15 things to do in Hyderabad that are actually worth your time
Charminar at dawn, Golconda at golden hour, lake-side sunsets and the markets locals send their friends to.
Skip the tourist-trap energy. This is the list locals actually back.
The big hitters (do them right)
- Charminar at opening time, before the crowds and the heat. Climb up, then get lost in Laad Bazaar for bangles and pearls right next door.
- Golconda Fort for sunset. The acoustics are wild, the view is better, and the light-and-sound show after is worth staying for.
- Chowmahalla Palace if you want the Nizam-era opulence without the chaos.
- Qutb Shahi Tombs, freshly restored and weirdly peaceful for photos.
On the water
Hussain Sagar is the city's centrepiece lake. Take a boat to the Buddha statue in the middle, then walk Tank Bund or Necklace Road as the skyline lights up.
Green escapes
KBR National Park for a morning walk among actual peacocks. Durgam Cheruvu, the "secret lake", for the cable-stayed bridge glowing at night.
Underrated
- Sudha Cars Museum, a gloriously weird collection of handmade novelty cars.
- Shilparamam, a craft village that's great for souvenirs and weekend energy.
- Moazzam Jahi Market for old-school fruit ice cream.
