Woman found dead in Peerzadiguda lake after allegedly taking temple idol

A 25-year-old woman was found dead in a lake near Peerzadiguda in the Medipally area of Hyderabad on Saturday, hours after she allegedly entered a nearby temple and took an idol. The Medipally police have registered a case following the discovery of her body. Investigators suspect that the woman was suffering from mental health issues at the time of the incident.
According to the police, the deceased woman was a native of the Vizianagaram district. She had previously been employed as a software engineer in Bengaluru, but she quit her job about six months ago. Following her resignation, she and her mother moved to Hyderabad around two months ago, where they had been living together in a rented house in Peerzadiguda.
The incident reportedly began on Friday night. Police officials stated that after the family had dinner, the woman allegedly left the house without informing her mother. Upon leaving, she locked the front door of the rented residence from the outside, leaving her mother locked inside the home.
The woman then allegedly went to a nearby temple, where she took an idol. Her body was later found on Saturday in a nearby lake. The Medipally police noted that she was not wearing any clothes when she was found, which led them to suspect that she was suffering from mental health issues.
The situation came to light when the woman's mother woke up on Saturday morning and discovered that the house was locked from the outside. She later learned the news of her daughter's death. Following a formal complaint filed by the mother, the Medipally police registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
