Vegetable Prices Fluctuate in Hyderabad as Beans Touch Rs 65 and Tomatoes Drop

Vegetable prices across Hyderabad, including at local Rythu Bazaars, have experienced sharp fluctuations over recent weeks, placing strain on household kitchen budgets as the costs of several daily essentials continue to climb.

Prices for staples such as beans and carrots have moved upward, adding further pressure to consumers who are already dealing with soaring onion prices across city retail markets.

Beans are currently retailing at approximately Rs 65 per kilogram, marking a notable increase from the rate of about Rs 50 per kilogram recorded last month. Market vendors confirmed that carrot prices have also seen an upward trend over the same timeframe.

However, the price movements have not been uniform across the entire vegetable basket. While certain vegetables have become more expensive, others have turned cheaper, providing shoppers with some financial respite.

Tomato prices have seen a decline, dropping to around Rs 15 per kilogram from earlier levels of Rs 20 to Rs 25 per kilogram, softening the impact of higher costs for other kitchen staples.

Vendors at Rythu Bazaars indicated that local vegetable rates continue to shift based on daily arrivals, stock availability, and the volume of supplies reaching Hyderabad from producing regions.

According to the vendors, changes in crop arrivals and shifting weather conditions in major vegetable-growing areas have a direct impact on wholesale markets, with the resulting price differences eventually transferring to retail counters across the city.
