Vakiti Srihari Accuses BRS of Political Theatrics Over Krishna River Water Issue

In Hyderabad on Monday, Telangana Animal Husbandry and Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari accused Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders of attempting to mislead the people of the combined Mahabubnagar (Palamuru) region through political demonstrations centered on Krishna river water issues.

The minister made these statements in response to a visit by BRS leaders to the Gudur region in Karnataka. During that visit, opposition leaders launched a public campaign carrying the slogan, 'Water in Karnataka–Barren Lands in Telangana.'

Srihari stated that the exercise carried out by BRS leaders was aimed strictly at creating political controversy rather than genuinely addressing the concerns of farmers in the Palamuru region. He criticized what he described as 'placard politics' and political theatrics on the part of the opposition party.

Addressing the state government's stance, the minister said the Congress government was actively working to safeguard the water interests of Palamuru and improve the prospects of farmers across the region. He asserted that the public, particularly farmers and the youth, were fully capable of distinguishing between genuine development efforts and false propaganda.

Srihari also questioned the moral right of BRS leaders to speak on Krishna river water distribution. He pointed out that BRS leaders had failed to raise their voice against the construction of dams in Karnataka during the party's nine-and-a-half-year tenure in power.
