Vakiti Srihari Accuses BRS of Neglecting Telangana Water Rights

Telangana Minister for Animal Husbandry Vakiti Srihari declared that the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party has no moral right to speak on the Krishna River water issue. Speaking during a review meeting held in Mahabubnagar on Monday, Srihari stated that the Congress government is committed to protecting Telangana's share of river waters. The review meeting was conducted with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Congress MLAs representing the undivided Mahbubnagar district to discuss issues related to the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS).

Addressing past water allocations, Srihari alleged that the BRS compromised on Telangana’s rights over the Krishna River during its 10 years in power. He stated that the previous BRS government agreed to give 512 TMC ft of Krishna water to Andhra Pradesh while securing only 299 TMC ft for Telangana. The Minister also criticised the former administration for failing to complete major irrigation projects in south Telangana and signing agreements that harmed the state’s interests.

Srihari announced that the Congress government will present all facts and documents in the Assembly to expose how the BRS neglected Telangana’s interests regarding both Krishna and Godavari River water sharing. He added that the opposition's decision to stay away from Assembly discussions while engaging in politics outside was an attempt by the BRS to hide its own failures.
