Traffic Restrictions Imposed Around Abids ISKCON Temple for Krishna Janmashtami

The Hyderabad Traffic Police announced traffic restrictions and diversions around the ISKCON Temple at Abids on September 4 to manage devotee movement for Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. The measures remain in place from 4 a.m. on September 4 until 1 a.m. on September 5, with enforcement adjusted according to the size of gatherings and pilgrim movement throughout the day.

Police advised motorists to avoid several central corridors expected to see heavy congestion, including Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Abids Circle, the Old Hyderabad Collector Office, Chirag Ali Lane, and Nampally Station Road. Officers will regulate traffic along these stretches or redirect vehicles depending on crowd density.

Traffic moving from Gunfoundry and Tilak Road Junction toward Nampally Station Road will operate under a halt-and-go system at GPO Junction. In the event of heavy pedestrian movement, authorities will divert vehicles toward MJ Market. Similarly, vehicular traffic originating from Jambagh Road and S.A. Bazar Mosque toward GPO Junction will face a halt-and-go system, with heavy crowds triggering diversions at MJ Market toward Gandhi Bhavan and Chapel Road.

Vehicles traveling from Taj Island and Nampally toward Koti Bank Street will be directed along an alternative path via Bharat Petrol Pump, Samachara Hakku Bhavan (Old ACB Lane), Yousuf & Company, and Troop Bazar before entering Koti Bank Street. Additionally, vehicles proceeding from the BJP State Office will not be permitted to head toward Old Hyderabad Collector Office Junction and will instead be rerouted toward MJ Market Road.

Public transport services are also subject to route adjustments based on devotee density. RTC buses traveling from Rangmahal and Jambagh Road will be diverted at MJ Market Junction toward Gandhi Bhavan Road and Nampally Station Road, bypassing GPO Junction and Abids Circle. Buses approaching from S.A. Bazar Mosque and Afzalgunj will follow the same diversion route. Meanwhile, buses operating from Liberty and Basheerbagh will be redirected at BJR Circle toward A.R. Petrol Pump, and those originating from Ravindra Bharathi and HTP Junction will be turned at A.R. Petrol Pump toward Nampally Station Road.

For devotees traveling to the temple, designated parking facilities have been arranged at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally.
