Tolichowki Sub-Inspector Arrested by ACB for Taking Rs 10,000 Bribe

A Sub-Inspector of Police working at the Tolichowki police station was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Tuesday after being caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Hyderabad.

According to the ACB, the accused officer, identified as R. Pandu Naik, demanded the money from a complainant involved in a family dispute. Naik allegedly sought the bribe in exchange for not registering a case against the man based on a complaint lodged by his mother.

Investigators said the Sub-Inspector also promised to settle the family dispute amicably and assured the complainant that his passport would not be seized if the bribe was paid.

Following a formal complaint, the ACB's City Range-I unit laid a trap and apprehended Pandu Naik while he was accepting the Rs 10,000 bribe. Officials subsequently recovered the tainted currency from his possession.

Naik was arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand. ACB officials confirmed that further investigation into the case is currently underway.
