Three Held After Pregnant Woman Dies Following Abortion in Jangaon

A pregnant woman died on July 25 after developing severe bleeding following an abortion procedure in Sanjay Nagar, Jangaon district. Police have taken three people into custody and launched an investigation after registering multiple cases in connection with the death.
The deceased woman was identified as Sravani, a resident of Raghunathapalle in Jangaon district. Sravani and her husband, Bhaskar Goud, had two daughters, and she was pregnant with her third child.
According to police, Sravani's mother, Shobha, allegedly sought the assistance of a registered medical practitioner named Sravan and took Sravani to a hospital in Hanamkonda. The sex of the foetus was allegedly determined at the Hanamkonda facility.
Following the sex determination, Shobha and Sravan allegedly brought Sravani to Sanjay Nagar, where an auxiliary nurse midwife identified as Anasurya allegedly performed an abortion procedure on July 21.
Sravani developed severe complications and heavy bleeding after the procedure, leading to her death on July 25. Police subsequently took ANM Anasurya, RMP Sravan, and Sravani's mother Shobha into custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
