TGSPDCL to Upgrade Chevella Power Network and Conduct Drone Surveys

Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil visited Malkaram village in the Chevella section of Ranga Reddy district to review electricity distribution infrastructure and announced major network strengthening projects across the region.

The visit was conducted as part of the Praja Bata–Basti Bata programme. During the inspection, Patil reviewed the local power supply system, routine maintenance activities, and field-level conditions. In an effort to inspect field operations directly and evaluate the safety protocols observed by departmental personnel, Patil personally climbed an electricity pole at the site.

To improve power supply reliability in the Chevella region, TGSPDCL will establish an approximately five-kilometre-long 33 KV interlink line connecting the Alur Feeder, Dharmasagar 33 KV Feeder, and Pudur Feeder. This interconnection is designed to allow power supply to be shifted between substations as needed, minimizing service interruptions and giving the local network greater operational flexibility.

Patil also announced that the existing 33 KV feeder running from Chegur to Shabad will be extended by approximately seven kilometres. This extension will create an alternate power supply source for the Shabad 33/11 KV Substation, improving the reliability of power delivered to several substations in the vicinity, including those at Bobbiligama and Antharam.

As part of the modernization strategy, the CMD instructed officials to deploy advanced drone surveys to carry out comprehensive mapping of the 33 KV and 11 KV network across Chevella. The mapping initiative will allow the utility to assess the physical condition of power lines, identify system deficiencies, schedule maintenance requirements, plan alternate routing arrangements, and guide future network expansion.

During the visit, Patil interacted with field staff and commended their work in maintaining quality electricity supply for agricultural consumers. Stressing the critical importance of workplace safety, he distributed modern pole-climbing safety equipment to operations and maintenance personnel. Patil stated that the discom remains focused on strengthening its distribution network, incorporating modern technology, and raising safety standards to deliver better service across the state.
