TGHRC Clears 51,798 Disposed Case Records for Destruction in Hyderabad
The Telangana Human Rights Commission has completed the weeding-out process for 51,798 disposed case records across Telangana and undivided Andhra Pradesh jurisdictions at its office in Hyderabad. The commission carried out the exercise following directions from its chairperson in line with Regulations 31 and 32 of the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (Procedure) Regulations, 2013.
According to a public notice issued by the commission, the cleared files include 16,730 old and disposed records from the territorial jurisdiction of Telangana. This segment comprises 13,089 HR case records and 3,641 SR case records covering the eligible period entered in the official weeding register.
In addition to the Telangana files, the commission completed the process for 35,068 disposed case records belonging to the territorial jurisdiction of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. These older records span proceedings filed and handled between August 12, 2005, and March 20, 2021.
Under the procedure approved by the rights panel, essential documents will not be lost. The original complaints and final orders for all concerned cases have been retained, recorded in the weeding register, and systematically preserved. For the 35,068 files from united Andhra Pradesh, the chairperson specifically directed that the original complaints be preserved alongside final orders.
The commission announced that all remaining records and documents within the weeded-out files, apart from those specifically ordered for retention, are proposed to be destroyed. Before executing the disposal, the commission has opened a public window for any pending claims or objections.
Members of the public who have objections, claims, or require clarifications regarding any petition or case record scheduled for destruction must submit them in writing within 15 days of the notice publication. The commission stated that representations should include the relevant case or SR number, the year of filing or disposal, the name of the complainant, and supporting documents where available. If no objections are received within the 15-day period, the commission will destroy the weeded-out files without further notice.
