Telangana to Strengthen Healthcare Services in Adilabad, Asifabad and Nirmal

Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha announced on Monday, July 27, that the Telangana government is taking measures to strengthen public healthcare services across Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, and Nirmal districts. Speaking at a review meeting in Hyderabad, the Minister stated that these initiatives aim to ensure residents receive quality medical treatment within their home districts rather than having to travel to Hyderabad.

The review meeting focused on assessing medical services, existing infrastructure, and the progress of development projects across the three districts. Minister Raja Narasimha highlighted that the government's focus is on expanding healthcare facilities, improving infrastructure, and introducing specialised medical services in underserved regions, particularly in tribal and forest areas.

During the session, the Health Minister reviewed the functioning of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Adilabad, alongside other government medical colleges in these districts. The assessment also covered Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and health sub-centres.

MLAs representing constituencies from all three districts attended the review and reported that the functioning of government hospitals in their areas had improved considerably due to an increase in doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel. The legislators requested additional facilities based on local requirements, infrastructure expansion, and the strengthening of specialised departments. Minister Raja Narasimha assured them that the issues raised would be addressed.

Outlining key institutional developments, the Minister stated that RIMS Adilabad is being developed as the primary medical hub for Adilabad, Asifabad, and Nirmal districts, with super-speciality services being introduced in phases. He noted that Cardiology and Nephrology services have already commenced, with more specialised departments set to be added.

Addressing emergency transport, the Minister recalled that the government had previously sanctioned one ambulance for every mandal in the erstwhile Adilabad district and announced that additional ambulances would soon be provided to community health centres and area hospitals. He also directed officials to ensure the uninterrupted operation of 108 emergency ambulances and 102 maternal healthcare ambulance services.
