Telangana to Roll Out Healthcare Framework for Remote Tribal Villages

Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha announced on Monday at the Secretariat in Hyderabad that the health department will implement a special healthcare framework to strengthen medical services across tribal and forest villages in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, and Nirmal districts.

The initiative focuses on expanding medical infrastructure, specialist care, and emergency services closer to residents in remote tribal areas. Reviewing healthcare services across the three districts, Rajanarasimha stated that the government aims to provide healthcare quality in remote regions comparable to that available in urban centres.

As part of the plan, CT scan facilities will be introduced in a phased manner across all area hospitals functioning under integrated tribal development agencies. The government will establish new sub-centres and primary health centres (PHCs) where necessary, while upgrading existing PHCs, community health centres, and area hospitals based on local requirements and travel distances.

The review meeting at the Secretariat was attended by MLAs Vedma Bojju, Payal Shankar, Dr Palvai Harish Babu, Kova Lakshmi, Ramarao Pawar, and Anil Jadhav, alongside senior health department officials. The minister reviewed the overall functioning of government medical colleges, district hospitals, area hospitals, and PHCs across the three districts.

MLAs present at the meeting informed the minister that local government hospitals have improved significantly following the recruitment of more doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff. However, they requested additional infrastructure and the strengthening of specialty departments.

Rajanarasimha highlighted that Adilabad RIMS is being developed as the referral centre for Adilabad, Asifabad, and Nirmal districts. Super-specialty services, including cardiology and nephrology, have already been introduced, with more departments to be added to minimise patient travel to Hyderabad for advanced care.

With the monsoon underway, the minister directed officials to stay alert against seasonal diseases such as malaria, dengue, viral fevers, and diarrhoea. He added that the government has sanctioned one ambulance per mandal in the erstwhile Adilabad district, with plans to deploy additional ambulances at community health centres and area hospitals.
