Telangana Schools to Observe 10 Bagless Days Starting September 19

Students in Telangana schools will observe 10 bagless days during the academic year, starting from September 19. The initiative applies to students from classes 1 to 10 and will take place on the third Saturday of every month.

The programme aims to offer students opportunities to step outside traditional classroom routines and engage in practical, activity-based learning. According to officials, the initiative is designed to make education more joyful, interactive, and less stressful by emphasizing hands-on experiences over conventional book-based lessons.

To help implement the initiative, the State Council of Educational Research and Training has created a dedicated module to assist teachers in planning activities. The module outlines learning outcomes, practical skills, and information regarding potential career opportunities.

Under the guidelines, planned activities include experiments, quizzes, field visits, surveys, model-making, doodling, skits, role-play, and other hands-on projects. Students will also be encouraged to observe their surroundings, work in teams, ask questions, and connect their classroom lessons to real-life situations.

Additionally, the programme incorporates visits to places of cultural or historical importance, interactions with local artisans and working professionals, environmental initiatives, and arts and crafts sessions. Schools will have the flexibility to select and adapt activities based on students' age groups, interests, local conditions, and the resources available to them.
