Telangana Mandates C&D Waste Plans on BuildNow Platform in GHMC and HMDA Areas

HYDERABAD — The Telangana government has approved the integration of Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Management Provisions into the BuildNow platform, making declarations on waste handling compulsory for building permission applicants.

The policy change was introduced to curb illegal dumping and ensure the proper disposal of debris across urban jurisdictions in the state. It follows specific directions issued by the government to municipal departments to prevent the indiscriminate disposal of construction and demolition waste in public spaces and open areas.

Under the newly integrated system, anyone seeking building permission through the BuildNow platform will be required to submit a mandatory declaration regarding C&D waste management. In addition to this declaration, projects that fall under the scope of the regulations will have to submit a detailed C&D Waste Management Plan formatted according to state government prescriptions.

The regulatory measures will be executed digitally through BuildNow across several major urban local bodies and planning jurisdictions, specifically covering areas administered by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), the Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CMC), and other municipal corporations (MMC).

By embedding the waste management checks directly into the building permission process on the BuildNow portal, authorities aim to track and regulate debris generation and disposal at the initial stage of construction and development projects.
