Telangana Indiramma Indlu Beneficiaries to Pay Rs 6 Lakh for CURE Area Flats

On Monday, Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy formally launched the Indiramma Indlu Housing Scheme in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area of Hyderabad. Under this new scheme, beneficiaries are required to contribute Rs 6 lakh toward owning a flat, marking a major policy shift from the previous BRS government's practice of providing double-bedroom houses entirely free of cost.
The state government plans to construct one lakh flats in phases across 16 Assembly constituencies in the CURE area. Each flat will have a built-up area of 528 square feet and is estimated to cost Rs 11 lakh. While the government will provide a subsidy of Rs 5 lakh, the beneficiary must pay the remaining Rs 6 lakh in structured phases.
According to Minister Srinivas Reddy, the payment schedule is divided into three parts: Rs 1 lakh after the completion of the RCC structure, Rs 2 lakh during the finishing stage, and the remaining Rs 3 lakh at the time of completion and handover.
To apply, individuals must pay an application fee of Rs 100 along with a refundable token advance of Rs 10,000. Beneficiaries will be selected through a draw of lots, and those not selected will receive a refund of their token amount. The housing units will be built as 10-storey apartment towers in prime locations. The Minister noted that the undivided share of land for each flat, valued between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 60 lakh, will be provided to beneficiaries free of cost.
For the first phase, the government has identified Housing Board and other departmental lands in 16 Assembly constituencies, proposing the initial construction of 7,680 flats. Minister Srinivas Reddy stated that the goal is to complete these houses before the next Bonalu festival.
Strict eligibility criteria have been set for the scheme. Applicants must not own a house or plot within the Outer Ring Road limits, and their annual household income must not exceed Rs 6 lakh. Only one application is permitted per family, and the applicant must reside in the respective Assembly constituency. Furthermore, beneficiaries are prohibited from selling or renting out the flat for 10 years after taking possession, though they will be allowed to mortgage the property with banks.
Applications can be submitted through MeeSeva centres, the MeeSeva portal, or the MeeSeva WhatsApp service.
