Telangana Earmarks ₹1,000 Crore for Godavari Pushkaralu Works in Dharmapuri

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday performed the bhoomi puja for the reconstruction of the historic Sri Ugra Narasimha Swamy temple in Dharmapuri in Jagtial district, announcing that the State government has earmarked ₹1,000 crore in the budget for the upcoming 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu.

Accompanied by Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar and Director and Commissioner of Endowments M. Hanumantha Rao, the Deputy Chief Minister initiated the temple reconstruction project, which is being taken up at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore.

During his visit, Mr. Vikramarka also laid the foundation stone for the construction of pushkar ghats at Dharmapuri at an outlay of ₹22.16 crore. Additionally, foundation stones were laid for nine road works costing ₹58.55 crore across Dharmapuri and Kotilingala as part of the broader infrastructure upgrade for the religious festival.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vikramarka said that out of the total Pushkaralu allocations, ₹200 crore has been specifically earmarked for development works within the Dharmapuri Assembly constituency. These works comprise the construction and enhancement of pushkar ghats at both Dharmapuri and Kotilingala, which are major pilgrimage hubs in Jagtial district.

He stated that the Congress government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is focused on conserving ancient heritage temples while simultaneously building robust infrastructure to serve devotees. Extensive preparations are underway across the State to ensure the smooth conduct of the Godavari Pushkaralu next year.

The State government is currently undertaking comprehensive development of key temples situated along the Godavari river stretch extending from Basar to Bhadrachalam. These initiatives are aimed at setting up the necessary facilities and amenities to cater to the large influx of pilgrims expected during the river festival.
