Shamshabad Police Book Protesters For Attacking Officials During Land Fencing Drive

The Shamshabad police have registered a criminal case against a group of protesters who allegedly attacked police personnel and government officials during a land fencing drive in Bahadurguda village, Shamshabad mandal, on July 18. The officials, representing the Revenue department and HYDRAA, were conducting survey and fencing work for a proposed bullet train project when the violent clash broke out.

According to the police complaint lodged by Sub-Inspector P Vanaja, security personnel had been deployed to Bahadurguda village to assist the Revenue and HYDRAA officials. The officials were carrying out fencing work on government land located in survey numbers 28 and 62. The land is part of a proposed acquisition of approximately 650 acres intended for the development of a bullet train project, which has faced local opposition.

The police reported that a group of protesters had set up a temporary tent at Lakshmi Thanda to demonstrate against the project. As the officials proceeded with the fencing work, the demonstration turned violent. Protesters allegedly pelted stones and chairs at the government officials and threw chilli powder directly into the eyes of the deployed police personnel to obstruct them from executing their duties.

The situation escalated further when Sub-Inspector Vanaja tried to alert other police units about the attack. The complaint alleges that as she was using her government-issued Very High Frequency (VHF) communication set to call for assistance, several protesters confronted her and forcibly snatched the wireless device from her possession.

Following an initial inquiry into the clash, the Shamshabad police identified several individuals involved in the confrontation. The accused have been identified as Jatavath Ravinder, Jatavath Kamli, Jatavath Mani, Pamena Gayathri, Mudavath Neelamma, Elugani Jyothi, and Devender.

The police have registered a case against the identified protesters under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 132, 308(2), and 121(1) read with 3(5). An investigation into the attack and the theft of the police communication equipment is currently ongoing.
