Revanth Reddy Orders Eviction of Rich Encroachers for Housing in Charminar Area

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials not to disturb poor people occupying encroached land, while ordering the immediate clearance of land occupied by the rich to facilitate the construction of Indiramma Houses. Speaking after inaugurating the Saidabad flyover on Thursday, the Chief Minister issued the instructions after Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi highlighted a severe shortage of land in Charminar and Yakutpura.

During the event, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi pointed out that there was no government land available for constructing Indiramma Houses in the Yakutpura and Charminar areas, urging the administration to identify alternative locations. In response, Revanth Reddy instructed the Hyderabad Collector and administrative officials to locate suitable land across the area.

“If any poor people encroach on lands, do not cause inconvenience to them. But if any rich people occupy lands, clear them and facilitate construction of Indiramma Houses,” Revanth Reddy said. The directives reflect a distinct stance in the Old City following previous instances across Hyderabad where HYDRAA demolished tenements and houses belonging to the poor, leaving families without shelter.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister also defended the patriotism of Asaduddin Owaisi and his younger brother, Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, asserting that no one could question their loyalty to the nation. Revanth Reddy stated that the Owaisi brothers are not inferior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah when it comes to patriotism, adding that they would never step back on issues concerning the country's security.

Revanth Reddy observed that while political parties may oppose each other or form alliances during elections, such political differences should not be treated with emotional hostility. He noted that the brothers may hold differing political views and had previously worked to defeat both the BJP leadership and the Congress.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that the Metro rail connectivity project linking MGBS to Chandrayangutta would be completed within two-and-a-half years. He assured local residents that he would only return to seek their votes in the next elections after personally travelling on the Old City Metro route.
