Police Search For 28-Year-Old Patient Missing From Erragadda Mental Health Hospital

A 28-year-old patient has gone missing from the Institute of Mental Health in Erragadda, Hyderabad, prompting a search operation by hospital authorities and the local police. The disappearance of the patient, identified as A Jagadeshwar, was reported on 20 July 2026, after he vanished from the hospital premises under unclear circumstances.

Jagadeshwar, a resident of Tandur, was undergoing treatment at the Erragadda-based mental health facility. His sudden disappearance from the campus led to immediate concern among the hospital staff.

According to officials, the hospital administration initially conducted a thorough search of the campus in an attempt to find the missing patient. After failing to locate Jagadeshwar anywhere on the hospital grounds, the administration formally alerted the Sanathnagar police and filed an official complaint regarding the incident.

Following the complaint, the Sanathnagar police registered a case and launched an investigation. Police officers are currently working to trace the missing 28-year-old and have deployed resources to locate him.

As part of the search efforts, investigators are actively analyzing Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage. The police are reviewing video recordings from cameras installed within the Institute of Mental Health campus, as well as footage from surveillance cameras in nearby areas, to determine the direction Jagadeshwar took after leaving the facility.

The Sanathnagar police and the hospital administration have stated that efforts are ongoing to locate the patient at the earliest. No further details regarding how the patient managed to leave the premises have been released as the investigation continues.
