Police Place BJP MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy and Congress Leader Under House Arrest in Armoor

Tension prevailed in Armoor of Nizamabad district on Monday after local police placed BJP MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy and Congress Armoor in-charge Vinay Reddy under house arrest. The preventive action was taken by the authorities ahead of planned protests and counter-protests by both political parties in the locality.

The political standoff began when Congress leaders issued a call to lay siege to the residence of Paidi Rakesh Reddy, which is located in Ankapur. The Congress party members were demanding that the BJP fulfill the various promises it had made to the public during the elections.

In retaliation to the Congress party's protest announcement, BJP leaders declared a counter-protest of their own. The BJP leaders called for a siege of the residence of Telangana Congress president Mahesh Kumar Goud. They asserted that the BJP was fully prepared to answer all the questions being raised by the Congress.

Anticipating significant law and order issues due to the opposing demonstrations, the police deployed heavy security forces at Paidi Rakesh Reddy’s residence in Ankapur. To prevent any untoward incidents and maintain peace, the authorities also enforced Section 144 in the Armoor area.

As part of the preventive measures, police officers took several local councillors and Congress leaders into preventive custody. Those who were detained were shifted to a local police station.

BJP MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy strongly questioned the police's decision to restrict his movement. He asked, "Why are the police placing us under house arrest when we are planning to hold a peaceful protest?"

Despite the objections from the political leaders, the police department remained on high alert throughout Monday to ensure that law and order was maintained in the town and to prevent any untoward incidents from occurring.
