Police File Cases Against TRP Leader Over Missing ₹69 Crore FCI Rice

Police have registered cases against two rice mills owned by Telangana Rajyadhikara Party (TRP) general secretary Vatte Janaiah in Balemla, Suryapet district, following the alleged diversion and disappearance of 29,187 metric tonnes of custom-milled rice meant for supply to the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

The action followed joint raids conducted by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department and the Civil Supplies Department. During the inspection, officials allegedly caught workers loading rice earmarked for the FCI from Vajra Vikas Rice Mart in Balemla into a lorry bound for Satya Sai Rice Corporation in Mudigonda, Khammam district.

Subsequent physical verification of the stock revealed extensive shortages across both facilities operated by the TRP leader. Officials reported a shortage of 11,073.054 metric tonnes of rice at Vajra Rice Corporation and 18,114.834 metric tonnes at Vajra Vikas Rice Mart, taking the total missing stock to 29,187 metric tonnes.

Civil Supplies Department officials estimated the total value of the missing rice at approximately ₹69 crore. Based on an official complaint lodged by the Civil Supplies department, police registered cases against both rice mills.

Authorities stated that Janaiah was unavailable when officials attempted to contact him during the proceedings. Police officials also clarified that the Preventive Detention (PD) Act has not been invoked against Janaiah, dismissing social media reports claiming otherwise.
