P•TAL Opens First South Indian Flagship Store in Banjara Hills

P•TAL launched its first South Indian flagship store in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, introducing its traditional metalware range to the city during an opening event titled Dastak-e-Deccan. Co-founder and chief executive officer Aditya Agrawal presented the new retail space, which features handcrafted brass, copper, and kansa products designed to bring centuries-old craft traditions into modern homes.

The newly opened Banjara Hills store is designed to move beyond typical retail formats by highlighting the stories of generation-spanning metals and inherited artisan craftsmanship. Agrawal stated that while public trust in traditional metals already existed due to growing interest in wellness practices like yoga, Ayurveda, and natural living, there was a need for a brand to present these materials in a contemporary, functional manner.

The brand operates on a philosophy described by Agrawal as artful utility, which emphasizes using handcrafted metal art in daily life rather than keeping it displayed behind glass. To appeal to modern consumers, P•TAL has expanded its product catalogue beyond traditional Indian cooking vessels to include modern lifestyle items such as copper water bottles, mugs, and martini glasses.

Beyond retail sales, Agrawal highlighted the brand's impact on preserving traditional craftsmanship and revitalizing the artisan ecosystem. When P•TAL first started, the average age of participating artisans was approximately 52 years old. That average age has now dropped to around 36 years old, as younger craftspeople have joined experienced masters to bring new ideas and experimentation to the trade.

Agrawal explained that Hyderabad was selected for the flagship destination following high demand and positive online engagement from local residents. He noted that the city's celebration of architecture, heritage, and cuisine made it a natural fit for vessels that complement food preparation and dining.

Looking to the future, P•TAL aims to expand beyond India and establish a modern global brand centered around age-old Indian metalworking traditions, demonstrating that heritage design can hold global relevance in contemporary spaces.
