Officials Inspect Electrical Shifting for KBR Park Flyover Project

High-level officials, including Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, conducted a field inspection on Wednesday around KBR Park, Road No. 45, and Film Nagar to review the progress of electrical network shifting works for the upcoming KBR Park Flyover.

The flyover is planned as a critical infrastructure project to ease traffic congestion and improve mobility across the area. During the inspection, the senior officers reviewed the ongoing electrical shifting works being carried out under the supervision of the master plan wing, focusing on inter-departmental coordination to minimise inconvenience to commuters.

The inspection team visited Road No. 45 and Film Nagar junctions to formulate strategies for relocating utilities without disrupting traffic. Officials agreed that the work would proceed in a phased manner through close coordination among the Hyderabad Police, traffic police, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL).

Authorities noted that necessary measures are underway to safely relocate electrical poles, overhead lines, cables, and related power equipment to clear the way for flyover construction. Precautionary steps are being implemented to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers throughout the process.

TGSPDCL CMD Jitesh V. Patil stated that an action plan is being formulated to convert existing 11 kV and 33 kV overhead power lines into underground cable networks at various locations. He explained that this conversion aligns with the city’s long-term infrastructure and development requirements, enhancing power supply reliability while improving traffic management and urban aesthetics.

The officials also assessed ground conditions at several bottleneck points, including Journalist Colony, Jubilee Hills Checkpost, and the KBR Park Main Gate, where vehicular speeds typically drop. The team emphasised that selective road widening along these stretches is essential to maintain smooth and continuous traffic flow.

Following the assessment, instructions were issued to speed up road-widening work on a priority basis, complete road repairs immediately at high-density spots, and resolve underlying drainage issues.

To streamline vehicular flow between Film Nagar and Road No. 45, directions were given to shift electric poles, water supply lines, drainage networks, and other utility infrastructure obstructing road expansion on a war footing. Sajjanar and Karnan also thanked citizens for their cooperation with the one-way traffic system introduced for flyover construction under the comprehensive ‘H-City’ development project.
