Neknampur Residents Seek HYDRAA Action to Protect Golconda Hills Open Land

Residents of Golconda Hills at Neknampur in Hyderabad have urged civic authorities to protect designated public open space in their HUDA-approved layout from alleged encroachment and unauthorised construction.

In a representation submitted to HYDRAA and the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation on 9 September 2026, the Golconda Hills Welfare Association appealed for immediate intervention to safeguard the site. The layout spans 24 acres and 30.59 guntas, within which 17,339 square yards is designated as open public space.

According to the welfare association, the land in question forms an integral part of the layout approved under HUDA and had been handed over to the Neknampur Gram Panchayat through a registered gift deed specifically for public purposes and ongoing maintenance.

The association stated that encroachers were actively attempting to construct a boundary wall and carry out other unauthorised works on the designated open site. Residents also raised concerns that certain individuals were seeking to create or rely on disputed documents, allegedly misusing the original gift deed to claim private rights over the community land.

Demanding prompt administrative action, the residents urged authorities to immediately halt all construction activity on the property. They called for a joint inspection to officially record the present status of the land and asked officials to ensure the space is protected strictly in line with government records and the approved layout.

The association has further requested penal action against those attempting to alter or encroach upon the public property.
