Moosapet Residents Urge HYDRAA to Protect Rs 600 Crore Government Land

Residents of Moosapet urged HYDRAA to safeguard 6.18 acres of government land, valued at approximately Rs 600 crore, from alleged private encroachments. The appeal was submitted on Monday during HYDRAA's weekly Prajavani program, where a total of 42 grievances were received by officials.

The property in question covers 10.18 acres located between Kukatpally and Moosapet. According to the complainants, the government had originally earmarked the site for public infrastructure, allotting 4 acres to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for a water treatment plant and reserving 2 acres for government schools.

Although the land reserved for education was officially handed over to the Education department in 2023, the proposed schools were never built. Residents stated that private entities subsequently took advantage of the vacant space, encroaching upon both the 2-acre school site and the remaining 4.18 acres of government land.

The complainants noted that private organisations have erected sheds across the property. To prevent further illegal occupation and preserve public land, local residents urged HYDRAA to step in and secure the entire area by installing fencing around the perimeter.
