Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Considers Rs 1,500 Crore Loan for Civic Projects

The newly formed Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation is exploring a Rs 1,500 crore Rupee Term Loan to finance ongoing and proposed civic infrastructure works across the Malkajgiri area and clear pending liabilities.

According to civic officials, the borrowed capital will be allocated towards ongoing development works, new infrastructure projects, and clearing pending bills pertaining to the period between March and June 2026.

The municipal corporation is evaluating an array of civic infrastructure proposals estimated at an aggregate of Rs 1,500 crore. These plans incorporate projects under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure programme alongside pending works under the Strategic Road Development Programme.

In addition to major road projects, the funding is intended to cover road development, storm-water drainage networks, sanitation, public health infrastructure, town planning works, and essential civic amenities.

Civic authorities stated that these long-term initiatives require a dependable and steady flow of funds to ensure timely execution. Alongside primary road and drainage networks, the corporation is also planning to deploy funds to strengthen local waste-management systems, roll out civic initiatives, and improve pedestrian footpaths.
