KTR Slams Congress Government Over Dead Storage Water Levels at Telangana Bhavan Event

On Monday, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress-led Telangana government of failing to prepare for drought and manage irrigation projects, leading to water sources reaching dead storage levels. Speaking at a party-joining programme at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad, Rao stated that the government remained in "cold storage mode" while key water reservoirs dried up, causing severe agricultural losses for farmers across the state.

Rao, popularly known as KTR, highlighted that scientists had issued warnings about the El Nino weather pattern six months in advance. He criticized the administration for failing to take preventive action despite these early warnings. "Scientists warned six months in advance about El Nino, yet the govt did nothing. What is the use of holding meetings now? Farmers have already suffered losses," KTR said during the address.

The BRS leader further alleged that the current government lacks planning and a proper understanding of agriculture. He stated that Telangana farmers are currently struggling with a shortage of urea, erratic power supply, paddy procurement issues, and inadequate irrigation water. He compared this to the tenure of the previous BRS government, which he said ensured timely Rythu Bandhu payments and took active measures to prevent fertilizer shortages.

In addition to agricultural issues, KTR targeted the Congress party over its pre-election employment promises. He stated that the ruling party had promised to provide two lakh jobs but had failed to deliver. KTR claimed that even after more than two years, the government had not provided even 10,000 jobs. He described it as shameful that the current administration was claiming credit for jobs that were actually filled during the previous KCR-led government.

The public criticisms were delivered during an official event where businessman Moril Srinivas from Banswada, alongside several other workers, formally joined the BRS party.
