KT Rama Rao dares Revanth Reddy to fulfill election promises before seeking votes

On Sunday, May 31, 2026, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to implement all 420 election promises and six guarantees made by the Congress party before seeking votes in future elections. Addressing a gathering of BRS leaders from the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency, Rama Rao accused the ruling government of failing to deliver on its development promises and attempting to dismantle free agricultural power.
Rama Rao stated that the Chief Minister should publicly announce he will not contest future elections unless all commitments made to the people of Telangana during the Assembly elections are fulfilled. These promises include housing under the Indiramma scheme and various welfare guarantees. He dismissed the Chief Minister's claims regarding the installation of electricity meters on agricultural pump sets as an attempt to mislead the public.
Turning to agricultural policies, the BRS working president alleged that the proposed Rythu DISCOM is being established with the sole intention of eventually scrapping the 24-hour free electricity supply currently provided to farmers. He recalled that while in the opposition, Revanth Reddy had argued that three hours of electricity was sufficient for agricultural needs, and claimed the new DISCOM proposal is designed to translate that mindset into policy.
Rama Rao contrasted the current administration's policies with the record of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR). He noted that under six decades of Congress rule, Telangana faced severe power shortages, frequent outages, and industrial power holidays. He credited KCR with transforming the sector within six months of taking office to provide round-the-clock free power to the agricultural sector, a policy he warned is now under threat.
The BRS leader also criticized the Congress government for a lack of development in Hyderabad, specifically highlighting unfulfilled housing promises in the Cantonment area. He stated that despite assurances from Ministers, including Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, to deliver 6,000 houses in Cantonment during the by-election campaign, not a single house has been completed in Cantonment or anywhere else in Hyderabad.
