BRS NRI Wing to Host Telangana Formation Day Event in Malaysia on June 6

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) NRI wing, in collaboration with the Malaysia Telangana Association (MYTA), is organizing a major Telangana Formation Day celebration at the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) convention centre on June 6, 2026. Announced in Hyderabad, the event is expected to draw between 2,500 and 3,000 participants from across Southeast Asia, marking the next phase of the party's global outreach.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao and several senior party leaders are scheduled to attend the celebrations. The event will feature cultural programmes showcasing Telangana’s heritage, including replicas of the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam and the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial, alongside traditional Telangana cuisine.

According to BRS NRI global coordinator Mahesh Bigala, Malaysia was selected as the destination for this event following a successful gathering in Dallas, USA. The initiative is part of a broader plan to hold major Formation Day events across different continents to strengthen the party's engagement with the global Telangana diaspora.

Mahesh Bigala noted that Malaysia has a deep-rooted Telugu presence spanning nearly five generations. He recalled that the Telugu Association of Malaysia previously recorded one of the largest overseas participations during the World Telugu Conference organized by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in Hyderabad.

The upcoming Malaysia gathering also serves as a precursor to a major organizational restructure for the party's overseas supporters. After recently dissolving all NRI committees, the BRS is scheduled to launch a global membership drive during June and July, with new committees expected to be constituted shortly after.

The BRS currently operates NRI organizational units in 53 countries, which party leadership terms the highest international presence of any Indian political party. The party now aims to expand its footprint to at least 75 countries while fostering direct engagement between overseas Telangana residents and party leadership.
