Khammam Police Arrest Three Men and Recover Gold and Silver Stolen From Temples

On Monday, the Khammam police successfully busted a multi-state temple theft gang by arresting three men near the Seetharamapuram Greenfield Highway. The suspects were apprehended while they were on their way to Tiruvuru to sell stolen ornaments they had allegedly taken from various temples across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The three arrested individuals have been identified as Sheikh Jani, who also goes by the alias Jani Sharif, Perala Narasimha Rao, also known as Bobby, and Arva Uday Kumar.

Following the arrests, the police recovered a significant amount of stolen property. Kallur Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vasundhara Yadav told media persons that officers seized 24 grams of gold and 1,536 grams of silver articles from the possession of the three arrested men. In addition to the gold and silver ornaments, the police also recovered a car, a motorcycle, and other articles used by the suspects.

ACP Vasundhara Yadav stated that Sheikh Jani and his associates were involved in a series of offences and numerous thefts at temples. The gang's criminal activities were spread across the erstwhile Khammam district in Telangana, as well as several other temples in the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh, where they allegedly targeted and stole gold and silver ornaments.

The gang was caught near the Seetharamapuram Greenfield Highway. According to the police, Sheikh Jani, Narasimha Rao, and Kumar were travelling along this route towards Tiruvuru to liquidate the stolen gold and silver articles before they were intercepted and taken into custody.
