JNTUH Mahabubabad Students Protest Over Poor Hostel Sanitation and Water Scarcity

On Tuesday, students of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) Engineering College in Mahabubabad boycotted their classes and staged a protest on campus. The demonstration was organized to demand basic amenities in the college hostel, including an adequate supply of drinking water and improved sanitation facilities.

The protesting students expressed severe anguish over the poor infrastructure of the hostel. They highlighted that the living conditions have become highly inconvenient, alleging that nearly 30 students are forced to share a single bathroom. This lack of sanitation facilities has caused daily struggles and inconvenience for the hostel residents.

According to the students, the decision to protest and boycott classes came after multiple failed attempts to resolve the issue internally. They claimed that they had repeatedly brought the shortage of drinking water and the sanitation problems to the notice of the college management. However, they alleged that the administration had failed to take any action to address their grievances over time.

The protesting students have put forward clear demands to the college management. They are demanding that the drinking water shortage be resolved immediately. Furthermore, they want the administration to construct additional washrooms to accommodate the number of students living in the hostel.

The students have warned the college management that they will continue their agitation and class boycott until all their demands are met.

Upon receiving information about the ongoing protest, local police personnel reached the JNTUH Engineering College campus. The police officers attempted to pacify the protesting students and convince them to call off the demonstration. Despite the police intervention, the students and their leaders refused to end the protest and continued to demand justice from the authorities, leading to a disruption of regular academic activities.
