IPS Trainee Booked For Alleged Sexual Harassment At National Police Academy

The Hyderabad police have registered a case against a trainee Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Uday Krishna Reddy, for allegedly sexually harassing, assaulting, intimidating, and digitally abusing a female colleague at the National Police Academy (NPA) in Shivarampally, Hyderabad. The case was registered by the Attapur Police following a complaint by a 30-year-old female IPS trainee who alleged she had been subjected to harassment since June 23.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant alleged that Reddy harassed her through sexually abusive WhatsApp messages and made derogatory remarks about her in front of other trainees. She stated that Reddy spread false rumours about her personal life, accused her of having an illicit relationship with another trainee, and pressured her to admit to the allegation.
The harassment escalated on July 8 when the accused allegedly took the complainant's mobile phone to his room without her consent, forced her to reveal the password, and accessed her personal messages. He is also accused of secretly recording a private video of her and sending it to her husband in an attempt to blackmail her and tarnish her reputation.
The complainant further alleged that on the night of July 9, Reddy wrongfully restrained her, forcibly took her to his room, grabbed her by the hair, attempted to strangle her, and held a knife to her neck while preventing her from leaving. During this incident, he allegedly threw three packets of condoms at her, groped her, and attempted to touch her private parts. The complainant stated she was assaulted again on July 10.
Based on these allegations, the Attapur Police registered FIR No. 824/2026. The charges against Reddy fall under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to assault, criminal intimidation, and offences against women, as well as relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, 2008. The police have initiated a formal investigation into the matter.
