IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert for 13 Telangana Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad issued a heavy rainfall alert on July 27, 2026, for 13 districts across Telangana over a three-day period starting Tuesday. The meteorological warning comes after weeks of persistent dry weather and a widening rainfall deficit across the state.

According to the official bulletin released by IMD weather officials, heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm is expected in the 13 specified key districts. The alert covers Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Warangal.

In addition to the rainfall forecast, strong surface winds with speeds reaching 30 to 40 km/h are expected to prevail across isolated pockets in all districts of the state. Weather officials noted that these strong gusty winds will remain a recurring hazard across Telangana through the end of July.

The wet spell is projected to persist over the coming days, bringing light to moderate showers across various parts of the state. Heavy rainfall alerts will remain active for isolated areas in districts including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nirmal, and Nizamabad through late July.

In light of the forecasted heavy spells and gusty conditions, IMD officials cautioned the general public to remain vigilant and exercise caution while outdoors during periods of heavy rain and strong winds.
