Hydraa Deploys 51 Teams, 394 Swimmers Across 103 Lakes for Ganesh Immersions

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) has deployed 51 disaster response force teams, 21 bike-borne teams, and 394 expert swimmers across Hyderabad for Ganesh idol immersions on September 25 and 26. The extensive safety arrangements cover 103 lakes across the city, including prominent locations such as Hussain Sagar and Durgam Cheruvu.

The deployment spans water bodies located in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), encompassing the jurisdictions of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC). Ganesh idol immersions are scheduled to take place across the three civic bodies on September 25.

Hydraa Commissioner AV Ranganath reviewed the preparedness and directed officials to keep trained swimmers on continuous standby, stressing that devotee safety must remain the top priority throughout the event. Swimmers are being deployed at critical water bodies across the city, including Durgam Cheruvu, IDL Cheruvu, Malkam Cheruvu, Gangaram Cheruvu, Lingam Cheruvu, and Dundigal Pedda Cheruvu.

At Hussain Sagar, 50 expert swimmers will be on duty during each shift. Water-based rescue and monitoring operations at the lake will be supported by six Hydraa-owned boats, which will supplement the fleet provided by the Tourism Department.

Beyond water safety, Hydraa personnel have also been trimming tree branches along procession routes to clear pathways and facilitate the smooth transportation of idols to pandals. The agency confirmed that it is actively coordinating with officials from the GHMC, CMC, and MMC throughout the immersion festivities.
