Hyderabad Police Inspect 562 Hotels and Lodges Under Operation Kavach

Hyderabad Police conducted intensive night inspections of 562 hotels and lodges across Nampally, Ameerpet, Khairatabad, Shamshabad, Jubilee Hills, Golconda, Secunderabad, Rajendranagar, and Charminar on Friday night. The massive security sweep, conducted under the banner of 'Operation Kavach', aimed to strengthen internal security and monitor anti-social activities in the city.

The operation was carried out between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. and involved a force of nearly 5,000 police personnel. Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar personally supervised the drive and issued strict warnings to hotel managements against violating guest verification norms.

During the coordinated operation, police teams inspected hotel registers, verified guest identity checks, and examined visitor records and rooms. Commissioner Sajjanar visited several lodges near the Nampally railway station and in Ameerpet to review room allocation procedures. During these visits, he also interacted with guests regarding their place of origin and purpose of travel.

The inspections spanned across multiple zones in Hyderabad. Of the 562 establishments inspected, the highest number was in Khairatabad with 119 hotels, followed by 92 in Shamshabad. Police also inspected 86 establishments each in Jubilee Hills and Golconda, 82 in Secunderabad, 53 in Rajendranagar, and 44 in the Charminar zone.

Following the inspections, the commissioner directed hotel and lodge operators to strictly maintain proper guest records. He stated that managements must verify original identity documents, accurately record check-in and check-out details, and ensure that rooms are never allotted to minors.

Furthermore, Sajjanar instructed the managements to maintain functional CCTV cameras on their premises and to immediately alert the police about any suspicious activity. The commissioner warned that strict legal action would be taken against any establishment found violating these prescribed norms.
